With short delay, SB Motorsports has now released its official 2010 Team Presentation! Since November 2009, the team has been preparing for this year's AutoGP FSR 2010 World Championship division and is proud to present a highly competitive line-up for the world's foremost formula simracing league.
2004 & 2009 FSR WC World Champion Roy Kolbe has been acquired as official Team Manager leading the German based squad into a new era.
"We are convinced the team will profit from Roy's vast experience, especially because both our AutoGP WC drivers are having their debut season this year" says Team Owner Sebastian Schmalenbach.
The two drivers are Mikko Puumalainen (FIN) and Karol Poniatowski (GER). While it may be their first ever year in the AutoGP WC, both have already proven their enormous talent in previous years, with Puumalainen winning the 2008 & 2009 FSR WS Pro and Ace championship respectively, and Poniatowski becoming the 2009 FSR WS Ace runner-up.
Puumalainen: "I started with sim racing in 2008 and I had no idea what would happen. Luckily I started off in the right championship at the right time. Over time I was able to improve my technical and driving abilities and I've won both championships I was running in. However, the AutoGP World Championship is something completely different than any other competition. We will see what happens."
Karol Poniatowski has won numerous races in WS Ace last year and is known as 'oldschool' driver in terms of driving technique. The 29 year-old from Marburg (Germany) is the only driver in the AutoGP WC field who is braking with the right foot.
"During the winter I tried to change my technique and use both feet, however without any luck. I was one second off-pace, so I decided to go back to my usual style. The advantage of no trailbraking is that I am using less fuel than any other driver during the races and I'm able to be harder to the engine. We will see if that'll give me an edge" says Poniatowski.
Besides the driver line-up, the team is also proud to announce the collaboration with the famous CTDP Modding team that designed this year's car, to the excitement of Schmalenbach:
"The design is fascinating. CTDP is known for its ultimate quality products, and with that car design they've just proven that once again. I'm proud to have a partner like CTDP on our portfolio."
Meanwhile, the first season race in Bahrain has already passed, with the team scoring a 6th and 12th place. SB Motorsports is currently testing on Melbourne to prepare for Round #2 of the FSR AutoGP 2010 World Championship.
